Sexual Health

Both men and women need to look after their sexual health and take time to understand the issues that surround contraception and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). For instance there are some STIs, like chlamydia, that you could be carrying without having any symptoms. This infection can affect fertility, so it's important to make use of the sexual health services available for free on the NHS.

Chlamydia

Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI).

Chlamydia is a bacterial infection, most commonly spread through unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex.

75% of people infected with chlamydia don't have any symptoms. However, testing and treatment are simple.

Sexual health services in Surrey

Central North West London (CNWL) provide free, confidential and non-judgmental sexual health, contraception and HIV services.

Local residents don’t always need an appointment; they should check the website for details and opening times at www.sexualhealth.cnwl.nhs.uk

They are available early in the morning, in the evenings and on Saturdays from:

  • Buryfields Sexual Health Clinic 61 Lawn Road, Guildford, Surrey GU2 4AX
  • Earnsdale Sexual Health Clinic 2 Whitepost Hill, Redhill, Surrey RH1 6BD
  • Woking Sexual Health Clinic, Woking Community Hospital, 2 Heathside Road, Woking, Surrey GU22 7HS - (sexual health only)

CNWL also offer free online contraception and home testing kits (to self-test at home, if over 18, for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis and HIV).

The website has a symptom checker to signpost people to the best service to meet their needs; this includes information about our spoke clinics (clinical outreach sessions for contraception services) which you can book online.

You can also find out more about these clinics and wider sexual health services delivered by GPs and pharmacists at www.healthysurrey.org.uk/your-health/sexual-health
