Seasonal Flu Vaccination

 

The flu vaccine is generally available to patients who are eligible from October to February.

 

If you are eligible for the flu vaccination you can book an appointment with one of our Practice Nurses, please call us on 0844 576 9218 or 01883 331900.

  

For most people, flu is unpleasant but not serious and they recover within a week. However some people at greater risk of developing serious complications of flu, including bronchitis and pneumonia.

These conditions may require hospital treatment. A large number of elderly people die from flu every winter.

The flu vaccine is offered free of charge to at-risk groups to protect them from catching flu and developing serious complications.


Those at risk are:

  • All patients over 65 years
  • Pregnant women
  • Carers
  • Patients under 65 who have one of the following conditions:
  • Asthma
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Chronic obstructive heart disease
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Chronic liver disease
  • Diabetes
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Polio
  • Stroke/Transient Ischaemic Attack
  • Weakened or suppressed immune system
